Most routes require no special knowledge or training. These are however steep climbing routes that require good fitness and health. When you choose hiking and trekking as a part of your Tanzania Adventure, you have a multitude of destinations to choose from. Your budget will also affect your choices, Mt. Kilimanjaro is rather expensive, but the other destinations like Usambara Mountains or Uluguru Mountains are cheap.

More then 400 species of animals and birds make their home at the slopes of Mount Meru. Thus all trekking here have to be accompanied by an armed ranger. Elephant, buffalo, baboon, warthog, duiker and black- and white colobus monkeys are amongst the wildlife registered here.
