• Tanzania Climbing and Trekking Packages

Our Tanzania climbing and trekking packages activities featuring three peaks in which we specialize in and most visited by many travelers visiting Tanzania include Mount Kilimanjaro 5895m, Mount Meru 4566m and Mount Ol Donyo Lengai 2962m (Ngorongoro highlands). These are the most frequent expeditions in Tanzania.

Every mountain is unique from each other, and this makes it important to be well informed before deciding on which one to climb. Most climbers opt for Kilimanjaro and Meru. Mount Meru is Africa’s fifth highest peak with fabulous views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Momela Lakes from the summit. The challenging ascent to the crater of Ol Donyo Lengai passes through some fantastic scenery with panoramic views of the Rift Valley. The trek to the top of Lengai is very steep and a true challenge which is attempted only by hikers with good level of fitness.

Simba Adventures will be more than happy to put together an itinerary that suits your preferences. It is advisable, especially when climbing at higher altitudes, to take things slowly and allow your body to acclimatize. Mountaineering is sport, hobby or profession of walking, hiking, backpacking and climbing. "Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb" - Greg Child

So let us take you on this once in a lifetime adventure and let you discover the answer to the mystery why we at Simba Adventures climb.

  • Mount Kilimanjaro climb is unique in that within the span of a few days, you pass through a wide variety of climates and vegetation zones; from tropical rain forest to near arctic conditions. The mountain is regulated by Kilimanjaro National Park which has strict rules concerning routes allowed and climber’s safety. Of the route choices, the Marangu Route has sleeping huts for overnights. The huts are basic but have solar lighting. On the other routes, tents are used for overnights. Because of altitude acclimatization being a big challenge, adding an extra day to the climbing itinerary can improve the chance of success substantially. Let Simba Adventures help you choose the route and itinerary that is right for you.

Mt. Meru which is Tanzania's second highest mountain standing tall at 4,566m. It is located in Arusha National Park and offers some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife diversity of any mountain in Tanzania. Mt. Meru is a challenging trek due to its steepness, but is a great way to acclimatize before attempting Mt. Kilimanjaro. Climbers are accompanied by an armed ranger due to the abundance of wildlife on the lower slopes. Mt. Meru also has some historical significance to it whereby some have suggested that it was the resting place of Noah's Ark when it came to rest after the biblical flood receded. Mt. Meru is a great trekking option for those who want to take on a climbing challenge and get the sense of being out in the wild, but are not quite ready to tackle Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The rugged and beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands offers one of the finest blends of culture, landscapes and wildlife in Tanzania. The best way to experience the highlands is no doubt on foot. Its diverse landscapes consisting of elevated volcanoes and craters, forests and vast grassy plains offer a remarkable experience for those hiking through this area. Hikers will experience first-hand how the Maasai people, who inhabit these highlands and the wildlife, coexist. The journey thought the highlands takes us to the edge of the Great Rift Valley where we then descend to the base of the escarpment wall right on the foot of Mt. Ol Doinyo Lengai. Known to the Maasai as the “Mountain of God”, Ol Doinyo Lengai is one of the most unique active volcanoes in the world. Our trek ends up on the shores of the beautiful Lake Natron, an alkaline lake which serves as the breeding ground for the Lesser Flamingos.
